Children’s workers and Sunday School teachers are always in need of ideas, and this SU course provides one idea for every week of the year!
More than 120 participants from 21 different churches descended upon Wesley Methodist Church in Malacca to attend 52 Creative Ideas to Teach Bible Stories, conducted by Scripture Union Singapore.
They got more than they expected, receiving fresh insights and new perspectives on teaching God’s Word creatively and impactfully. The training was organised by Scripture Union Peninsular Malaysia, and conducted by SU Singapore staff David Leong and Meenaci Mak, and associate trainers Edna Low, Percy Low and Ruth Tan.
In Singapore, the same workshop was presented to 21 participants from nine churches. The training team for the Singapore workshop comprised David Leong and associate trainers Geneieve Tang, John Sim and Percy Low, and was assisted by SU staff Bart Moorthy and associate trainer Cecilia Lim.
“Initially I thought the seminar would be more appropriate for those who teach lower primary students, but I was wrong! I was able to apply it to my pre-teen class. The principles of teaching and learning were absolutely useful, and the range of ideas given was very exhaustive. Seeing the SU trainers demonstrate each idea made it simple and easy to implement. Thank you for your teaching and sharing, and for encouraging us not to give up no matter what. At times there are disappointments and heartaches in ministry, but we simply make ourselves available as God’s servants to teach God’s word to the children – and His Word changes lives!”

Look out for the next run of 52 Creative Ideas to Teach Bible Stories!
In line with Scripture Union’s belief in inter-generational worship, executive director David Leong ministered to 1400 adults, youth and children at an Inter-Generational Worship Service at St John’s-St Margaret’s Church on 19 April 2009. In his message entitled Building Strong Families, he addressed the challenges facing families today, shared practical solutions from the Word of God, and kept the rapt attention of the young and old through a rap.
“My children enjoyed the inter-generational service, and could remember every word of the Family Rap! My nine-year-old daughter remembered every point of the sermon and what F-A-M-I-L-Y stood for. The sermon was obviously memorable and impactful for both parents and children. Thank you!”
